Course Description
Embedded systems are at the core of today’s technology—from automotive systems and smart devices to industrial automation and IoT. As these systems become more complex, the demand for engineers who can design scalable, real-world solutions continues to grow.
This course is designed for intermediate learners who want to go beyond basic programming and start building structured embedded systems using AVR. You will implement drivers, work with key peripherals, and explore essential communication protocols. The course also introduces automotive concepts through CAN and LIN, while covering system-level design using scheduling and RTOS concepts.
Throughout the course, you will also develop practical skills in validation and debugging—critical competencies required in real-world engineering projects.
Through hands-on labs, structured quizzes, and a capstone project, you will gain the skills needed not just to write code—but to think and build like an embedded software engineer.
What you'll learn
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
• Analyze embedded system requirements and break them down into modular, layered architectures.
• Design and implement reusable embedded drivers for core peripherals such as DIO, Interrupts, Timers, and ADC.
• Analyze microcontroller architecture, memory, and processor operations to optimize system performance.
• Evaluate different communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C) and select the appropriate solution based on system constraints.
• Integrate multiple peripherals and drivers into a cohesive embedded system with proper interaction between components.
• Architect and develop a basic scheduler, and assess the role of RTOS in real-time embedded applications.
• Construct embedded applications using FreeRTOS, applying task management and synchronization techniques.
• Debug and validate embedded systems using structured testing and troubleshooting approaches.
• Create a complete embedded system project that demonstrates system-level thinking, modular design, and real-world implementation practices.
