Course Description
With the Digital Clothing market projected to reach $4.5 billion by 2030, and with the gaming, animation, comics, and visual production industries increasingly relying on realistic digital clothing design for characters, skills such as drawing clothing, understanding folds, and controlling materials and lighting have become essential for improving portfolio quality and helping character artists stand out in a highly competitive visual market.
This course begins by building a practical understanding of gesture, structure, and clothing shapes through tracing, analysis, and direct drawing of characters and garments. It then gradually moves into studying different types of folds and applying them, before progressing to light and value construction using Notan and Chiaroscuro, with a focus on brush control and edge refinement to achieve clear and organized rendering. In the advanced stages, the course focuses on rendering complex materials such as lace, leather, fur, metal, reflections, accessories, and weapons.
The course is built around continuous hands-on practice through assignments at the end of each chapter, helping learners practice step by step and build a strong portfolio.
